Remarks

As we (class of 2019) are just the second batch to take admission in this university, we have experienced this transformation first hand.Ever since the inception of the university, it has striven to become a center of nurturing young, ignited minds in the field of science and technology. It is flourishing in almost every conceivable way meet the international standards of education and research. The university has lush-green campus of 338.52 acres(approx.) and has been awarded the title of “Green Campus” many times. The campus has uninterrupted power supply, much of which is generated using renewable solar energy and WI-FI facilities, for all students, faculty members and staff. Other on-campus amenities include university cafeteria, a Coffee Day Beverages outlet, university health center and physiotherapy center, Homeopathic clinic, Reprographic facilities in ITRC University stationery shop, Day Scholar’s Club, ambulance service, Bus facility, Post office etc. Many improvements have been observed in terms of infrastructure too, now every department has got its own seminar hall, two new lecture complexes have been set up and are fully functional, a whole new department of Chemical Engineering has been set up and central library improved. As a residential university it has seven boys hostel and four girls hostel in which some hostels exclusively meant for the freshman students as it is a ragging free campus. In terms of education and other amenities the institute does far better vis-a-vis its counterparts. But there is a dearth of hostel rooms and placement scenario is not up to the mark. So I would recommend to search for other option too as the university is still in its early stage of transformation and need a lot of improvements. But if your focus is on quality education then it is a good bet.

Entrance Exam

Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College was established in the year 1962 offering various technical and management courses and granting admittance based on the UPSEE examination rank before transforming into a state university in the year 2013 .Now the university conducts its own entrance examination known as Malaviya Entrance Test. Ten percent of the seats in the Bachelor of Technology program is filled through JEE-MAIN merit. The university has also sanctioned twenty percent seats of intake in each course of B.Tech program for lateral entry in sophomore year for the students holding three or four year Diploma or B.Sc. graduate degree from an Institution recognized by U.P. Board of Technical Education in any branch of Engineering/Technology. Apart for B.Tech, the university also offers other programs like M.Tech and Ph.D in various disciplines, MCA, MBA and M.Sc (Physics). "We are supposed to apply on-online. The forms are accepted every year in the month of February and March. Then we have to write a pen-paper MCQ based exam. The cutoffs are subject to change every year as per the intended intake allowed for that session. However students who get rank within the range specified by the university are invited to attend counselling and take admission. "

Fees

Considering it to be residential university, the overall fees is quite affordable vis-a-vis private institute. The annual fess is around Rs.96400/- for hostelers and a payment of mess advance of Rs.12000/- per semester add another Rs. 24000/- to the overall fees. The fees is not too high but the placement condition must improve.

Placements

Yes our university has a training and placement cell. They try to contact the HR of different organisation to highlight the potential of their students and to ask them to visit campus for recruiting us but the response is not that good.owning to the outskirt location of this university, it is hard to find a good number of potential recruiters, so the on campus selection ratio is low as of now. It is off putting and this area needs a lot of improvements because the students here works very hard and many of them make it through off campus through the E-Litmus and Amcat exams. The few companies that visit our campus are mostly IT based, so the chances of other branches student’s getting placed is even slimmer. The average package is from 4.5 Lpa to 5 Lpa. They mostly hire for the technical trainee or the junior software engineering positions. Placement percentage for CS/ECE students is 50-60%.

Hostel and Facilities

" As a residential university it has seven boys hostel and four girls hostel in which some hostels exclusively meant for the freshman students as it is a ragging free campus. Many hostels are underway of expansion to accommodate more students inside campus. The annual hostel fees is around twenty thousand with mess advance of Rs. 12000 deposited in each semester. Mess food is fine with a variety of dishes on their menu. But as the intake of students has increased almost twofold so right now many students have been denied hostel accommodation and even the final year girls have to live three students in a room which sometimes get really annoying. Hope this problem is dealt with in the future. "

Alumni

The university has a very strong alumni base, many of them working in Fortune-500 companies or serving the nation at some administrative position. Malaviya Alumni Association has worked very hard to keep alumni connected globally, each year it helps the present students to organize alumni meet which serves as an excellent platform for the young emerging generation of future professionals and leaders to interact them and grow their network. They also provide scholarship opportunities to meritorious students.

Faculty

The university is thriving by setting a mark on both the national and the international grounds. Three departments (Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering) have been accredited by the National Board Accreditation. It has signed an MoU with The University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa for student exchange program. This year our university is going to organize its an IEEE conference “UPCON-2018” from November 2-4, 2018. The university keeps inviting many distinguished speakers to conduct workshop and short-term courses for students and faculty throughout the year. It has even established a design, innovation and incubation center to encourage and fund project and research work. Many students have presented research paper in top-notch institutes of India and abroad. The competitive environment at this university makes students hone their intellectual prowess and core competencies to prove their mettle to stand atop in their respective fields. After all, to survive in this ever changing and advancing field of STEM one should remain competent and updated, so the faculty ensures that the students are well aware of it. The faculty members are all highly qualified and have some of the best institutes of India like the IITs, NITs etc. as their alma mater. We have regular classes and we are supposed to maintain at least 75% attendance to be able to write semester exams. The curriculum is delivered through lectures, tutorials and practical lab sessions.

Campus Life

The university believes in holistic development of the student, so it has made compulsory for the students to join either NCC or NSS to inculcate sense of social responsibility and humility. Besides these there is a body called the Council of Student Activities which encompasses various clubs and societies operational in our university like the editorial board, robotics club, photography club, entrepreneur development cell, innovation cell, social engineer’s board and the like. Many events are organized by these societies some of major ones are TechSrijan; annual techo-management fest, Abhyudaya; annual art and literary fest, Robomania; robotics symposium, Smash; sports meet etc. Students learn a lot from organizing these events and it contributes towards shaping their allover personality by brushing up their public speaking and team management skills as they are imperative to face the challenges of the real world with audacity and equanimity.

Academics

A subject is generally divided into four units.We have to write one minor test for first two units and a major examination assessing all the units of the subject. Apart from that we also have to write quizzes, give viva voce, seminars and presentation on the projects undertaken.

Internships

Yes our university provides internship opportunities. I am an intern at Navigatio.co Limited, which is B2B destination management company. I am working on the UI/UX of their supplier panel. They visited our campus to select us. We get meal cards which are redeemable at cafeteria.

Loans and Scholarships

Many scholarships are provided to students like the U.P. Scholarship & Fee Reimbursement, Meritorious student get ten thousand rupees scholarship for scoring highest marks in their respective branch and Rishi Shukla Memorial Scholarship. As far as financial aid is concerned almost all the CBS banks offer this service so its not a big deal to get one.
