Karpagam University (formally known as karpagam Arts and Science College) came into existence in 2008 under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. It also is popularly known as Karpagam Academy of Higher Education. The main motto of this university is Enable Enlighten and Enrich. This university is inspired by the Dr R Vasanthakumar.

It is recognized by Ministry of HRD, UGC and CoA. It is a “B” grade deemed university approved by NAAC.

It has a very large and spacious campus with lab, auditorium, well-equipped gym, hostel, cafeteria, library, computer lab. Along with these it also provides medical facility to its students. Today with its 6000 student strength and 750 teaching and non-teaching staffs it has become one of the prominent universities in the education industry.

This university provides UG PG and Research programmes in various disciplines. This university also provides distance mode of courses to the students. The admission into most of the UG and PG programmes is on the basis of merit marks scored in 10+2 and Bachelor course respectively.

For some courses like PG in Mass Communication, MBA etc, the university conducts its own entrance test. This university accepts All India JEE score for the admission in all the branches of Engineering.

Application and Admission Procedure

Admissions to all the courses are done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. But the admissions to B.E, B.Arch, MBA, M.E, M.Tech, M.Arch, M.Phil and PhD are done on the basis of entrance exam. Admissions to all the courses are through offline mode only.

The fee of the application form is Rs.300 for admission in Arts, Commerce, Humanities and Management. For the Engineering, the application fee is Rs.400. The candidate will also have to pay Rs.50 extra as postal charge.

HOW TO APPLY:

• The candidate can obtain the application form in person or through post.
• Then fill the application form correctly.
• Attach a copy of all the required documents like 10^th, 12th mark sheets, caste certificate etc.
• And then submit the application form with the payment done either in cash or through Demand Draft.

The admit cards of the entrance test can be obtained through post. On the basis of the marks of qualifying exam and entrance test the seta are allotted to the candidates.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel:

The Karpagam University is spread over a large area. This university has a separate hostel for boys as well as for girls. All rooms are spacious, airy, furnished and with all modern facilities like 24 hours electric supply, water supply, internet accessibility etc. and can be used on the basis of single occupancy or sharing.

Each hostel has own mess which serves good vegetarian food to its students and follows buffet system. Moreover, every hostel has a common room with cable TV connection and various indoor sports facilities such as table tennis, carom chess etc. The security system is very strict here.

The hostel has 531 rooms for boys and 370 rooms for girls.

Other Facilities:

This university provides various outdoor sports facilities like volleyball courts, tennis courts, badminton court, football ground, cricket ground etc. There is a well-equipped gym, library, reading room, auditorium and a general store from which the students can get toiletries, and other items related to their basic necessities.

The cafeteria serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. It also has a 3000-seater auditorium and a 800-seater open air auditorium.
