Doon University is a public university recognized by UGC. It was established in 2005 by the Government of Uttarakhand. It is a residential university spread over 52.35 acres. The university has 9 departments under it – technology, management, mass communication, media, and design among others. The university was established to fill the void in the domain of higher education in the state.
The university offers scholarships such as PanditMahanandDangwal Scholarship, e-Scholarship of Social Welfare Department to the deserving student.
The post of chairman of the university occupied by the governor of Uttarakhand. Vice chairman is appointed by the chairman of the university.
Application and Admission Procedure
Doon University, established by the government of Uttarakhand, admits students based on an entrance test, group discussion as well as a personal interview. The entrance test is conducted in online mode and no aspirant is exempted from it except top 10 rank holders of the CBSE, ICSE and Uttarakhand Secondary Education Board.
How to apply
The applications are accepted in online mode only through the link available on the official website of the university. A fee of Rs.800 needs to be paid along with the application form which is non-refundable.
In case, the applicant is facing any problem and is not able to apply online, he/she can complete all the related procedure at the ‘Admission Help Desk’ at the reception in the Administrative Block, Doon University, Kedarpur, Dehradun.
The applicants should take a note of the point that applicants convicted in any criminal offence are not eligible for application. Also, once a student is admitted in any full-time course, he/she is not allowed to take up any job or concurrently pursue any other degree in any other university. If found guilty, the candidature of that candidate will stand cancelled.
Hence, all the candidates are advised to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criterion laid down by the University.
Hostel and Facilities
Hostel
Doon University is a residential university that offers separate hostel facilities for male and female students. Single occupancy for each student is provided. It is highly recommended to utilise this service unless permitted otherwise as the curriculum requires group study sessions post lectures. There is cafeteria available in the hostel. All the students are expected to abide by the hostel and cafeteria rules and maintain a certain code of conduct.
Extracurricular Activities
Activities such as sports, literary, movie, cultural and social events are a part of the campus that is open to all its students.
Upcoming facilities
The university is working forward to provide banking facilities along with an ATM to be available within the university campus to students that can be accessed anytime by them. Facilities for medical aid are also to be provided by the university within the university’s campus, with 24X7 availability to all its students and staff members.

Remarks
The college needs to make a number of changes. There should be better administration procedures about the exams and syllabus. The syllabus should be updated. The faculty should be more focused on practical knowledge. Also, there should be excursions.
Entrance Exam
For admission into the college you have to clear the Doon University entrance test. Admission are based on this exam and as there are limited seats for every course and you have to score good to grab that seat. Also, I think for postgraduate courses you need to clear a personal interview as well.
Fees
The fee of the college is very cheap. Though the fee depends from course to course my course i.e M.sc fee is around Rs 35k per year. The hostel fee is included in this fee. The college does provide scholarships to students who are financially weak or are top scorers.
Placements
Being a new college, the number of companies visting the campus were very limited. The Scotland bank provided a package of around 3 lakhs per annum with other perks. Companies from banking, healthcare and technology mostly visited the campus.
Hostel and Facilities
The rooms are provided on sharing as well as individual basis. The rooms are also spacious and hygienic. The mess provides tasty food. The hostel fee is included in the total fee of Rs 35k per year.
Alumni
There is no alumni meet but you can connect with them on your own. The seniors are very helpful and do not take ragging. They are always available and us a lot in assignments and projects.
Faculty
The faculty can be updated with a bit more ecperienced teachres. The current faculty is very friendly and help us but lack the knowledge.
Campus Life
A lot of events happen throughout the year. There hostel parties and festival parties. The campus of the college is also huge. College has a good focus on the extra-curricular facilities and sports competitions are also conducted. The college organizes many events. The cultural fests are the highlight of the college it includes dance, Music, poetry and more. The college also celebrates patriotic days. Departments of have competition among themselves.
Academics
The exams are conducted in a huge hall and students do not have to worry about being cramped into tiny rooms. Each student has to give two exams every semester i.e Mid sem and end sem. The course curriculum of the college is pretty outdated and the quality of the faculty should be improved. The college lack proper discipline and there ar alsomost no rules and regulations. Practical knowledge is not provided.
Internships
The college does not provide any internships, if you want to pursue one you can go ahead and do it on your own.
Loans and Scholarships
Fee concessions and scholarships are provided to students who are very meritorious or does not have strong financial back-up.
Remarks
Overall the college is great though some of the things can be changes like the management imprive the quality of education along with implementing more discipline. The exams should be conducted on time and excursions and other trips should be organized as well.
Entrance Exam
The reason for me opting this college was the low fee and reputable name. My admission was based on my mat score. I had scored 95 percentile.
Fees
The fee for the course is around 65k for 1 semester, compared to other college the fee is low but when compared to the other courses offered by the university. Also the above fee has hostel fee included. Students who do not want to stay at the hostel have to pay around Rs 30k which is very cheap.
Placements
The college has dedicated placement cell which takes care of the placement. Lot of comaonies come for the placement and the average package is around 3-4 lakhs. To grab a top job students need maintain a good score throughout all the semesters.
Hostel and Facilities
The hostel is good and room are provided either single or on shgared basis. The fee for the hostel is around Rs 30k per sem. The single rooms are only for masters and research students while the bachelors students get the shared rooms. The rooms are not that big. The food of the hostel is okay. Other than the rooms and the food, there is a gym for exercise and students can play some indoor and outdoor sports.
Alumni
Alumni do occasionally visit the campus and have a chat with the students.
Faculty
The faculty of the colleges very helpful and guide us throughout our time in the colleges. They are also very co-operative during the placement season. They are well educated and most of them have phds in their respective area of study.
Campus Life
Some of the faculties include- gym, spa, courts for sports, indoor games.
Academics
The students need to score atleast 40% in their mid sem exam to pass. The college follows the semester system and there are mid sem and end sem exams. The students need to pass in both to go to the next semester. We also have to manage our attendance students with very low attendance are not allowed to sit for the exams.
Internships
It depend on the studnt if he wants to go for the internship provided by the college or find on his own. Some of the popular companies where my friends have interned are wipro, tcs, toi and more.
Loans and Scholarships
The college offers scholarship to those who the top ranking students of the class every year. I do not have much idea about how to get the loans but loans are provided to students have cannot afford the fee.
Remarks
MIT is great at providing both academic as well as extra curricular activities. The bond between the seniors and the juniors is very strong. There is no kind of ragging irrespective of where you come from. It also has a lot of clubs and they encourage you to enroll into atleast one of them. Some of these are dance, music, quiz, rotract etc.
Entrance Exam
Though the college accepts JEE marks but most of the seats are reserved for students who appear and clear the university’s own entrance test.
Fees
The fee charged by the university is very minimum as compared to other colleges/universities. I have paid around Rs 30k per year as my tuition fee. Students are charged fine of over 5k if they do not maintain their attendance. The hostel fee and other miscellaneous fee are not added in the above fee.
Placements
The placement of MIT is descent. Over 60% students gets placed on an average package of 4-5 lakhs. More number of student are placed in CS and IT department as compared to other engineering braches. Some of the top recruiting companies are Infosys, Accenture, dell, flipkart.
Hostel and Facilities
The hostel facilities at the college are excellent. The mess fee is around Rs 1000 and in that minimum price get you can get a lot of food. The quality of the food is also pretty good.
Alumni
The alumni meet is one of the highlighted events when alumni come share their experience and industry insights. It is conducted once every year. There is no restriction an dit is open to all. This makes the event a lot exciting and lot of learning can be done there.
Faculty
The best part about the faculty is that they help us not only in the our regular studies but also guide us for higher education be it entrance exams or some other course. The faculty is very well experienced and knowledgeable.
Campus Life
There is a great emphasis on the extra-curricular activities. The students are encouraged to enroll for various sporting events. There many facilities as well. The sports meet is very famous. Students from many colleges participate in it. Many events and contests happen throughout the year. A lot of students from various colleges participate in this. Various cultural and technical festivals are organized these include various competetions. Some of the most popular fests are ISSV and ICIIT.
Academics
Excellent and world-class specialty I never felt anything not available for learning. Extraordinary teachers, library's, classroom and lab facilities and exams hall workshop facilities different streams with all facilities both lab and highly knowledge professors and lectures and very good stipend for post graduate and doctorate degree. Overall, its a great place to learn and develop your skills. The curriculum is perfectly divided into 6 subjects per semester which gives you a proper time to gain knowledge on each of the subjects.

Students have to get internships on their own. The college does not provide any internships but they provide information about the internships.

Though there are a lot of scholarships provided but it difficult to get hold of one. Though students can also enroll of state or central government scholarships.
