Fee Structure Of BRAU, Srikakulam-Dr Br Ambedkar University

Dr BR Ambedkar University, Srikakulam was established by Andhra Pradesh State Government in June 2008 with a view to augment the education facilities in the Srikakulam District and to cater to the educational needs of the people of the district. Prof. S.V. Sudhakar, Department of Social Work, Andhra University was appointed the First Vice-Chancellor of Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam.

The Higher Education Department transferred the existing Andhra University Campus at Etcherla to the Administrative control of Dr BR Ambedkar University, Srikakulam. Prior to this, as a policy of extending higher education facilities to the backward regions of Srikakulam District, Andhra University, with UGC Support, came forward to institute two disciplines viz. Economics and Rural Development at Post Graduate level in 1977-1978 at Srikakulam in the name of Andhra University Postgraduate Centre, which is now solely functioning as Dr BR Ambedkar University. Initially, the Centre was started in the South wing of Government Degree College (Men) and after the acquisition of land and an old Zamindari Building at Etcherla, the Centre was shifted to the present campus on 29-09-1986.

Presently the campus has 16 PG courses catering to the needs of 1200 Plus Post Graduate students and 27 research scholars working for their M. Phil. and Ph.D., and is backed up by 72 faculty members (12 Regular Teachers, 45 Assistant Professors, 7 Teaching Associates, 6 Teaching Assistants and 2 Academic Assistants) and 110 non-teaching staff members (11 Regular, 37 Employees with Time Scale, 13 Employees Daily Wages and 49 Contract Employees).

The University is located at Etcherla, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh, abutting the National Highway 5 (Chennai to Kolkata), exactly 95 Kms away from Visakhapatnam. Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam is well connected to Visakhapatnam City which in turn is well connected by all means of transportation. Srikakulam Road is the nearest railway station which is around 10 km from the campus. The University began in a campus extending over 29 acres at Etcherla, and after its formation, the university acquired 195 acres of land. The Srikakulam district is declared by the Centre as well as the State Government as backward area with 80 percent of the population living in the rural areas with disadvantaged sections of population i.e. SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN.
