Colleges accepting WBJEE 2018 score

All the colleges affiliated with the West Bengal state government accept students based on their scores in WBJEE. In 2017, almost 104 colleges participated in the counseling session based on WBJEE. Here is a list of the top colleges that accept WBJEE:

WBJEE 2018 Cut off

Cut off mark is the minimum marks that should be scored by the candidate to qualify for counseling. This mark is decided based on a number of parameters like:

  • Number of applicants
  • Number of candidates who appeared for the exam
  • Difficulty of the exam
  • Number of seats available

Additionally, different colleges have different cut-offs which are determined by the management and keeps changing for every academic year. Based on the stream and course chosen, candidates will have to check the cut off marks and see if they are eligible for an admission at that university.

It should be noted that the cut off mark varies for candidates belonging to different categories. Candidates applying for a particular university are requested to check the cut-off marks set by the university before appearing for the counseling session.

WBJEE 2018 Score Validity

The WBJEE score is only valid for one year. The score cannot be carried over to the next year. If a candidate has not attended the counseling session or has not qualified, then they will have to write the exam again and under no circumstances will their previous year’s marks be considered.

WBJEE 2018 Reservations & Seat Distributions

The seat reservations followed by the universities are those enforced by the state government. The following is the distribution:

Category Percentage of reserved seats
Scheduled Caste (SC) 22%
Scheduled Tribe (ST) 6%
OBC 17%

It should be noted that the reservations only apply for candidates belonging to the state of West Bengal. Candidates belonging to other states will be treated as candidates belonging to the general category and will not be given any of the benefits mentioned above.

Additionally, there is a Defense Quota with 12 seats reserved for students falling into this category. Out of the 12 seats, 7 are reserved for Government Engineering and Technology Colleges of the state of West Bengal, 2 are reserved in Jadavpur University and the remaining 3 seats are reserved at Bengal Engineering and Science University.

Some seats are also reserved for physically challenged people. Candidates falling under this category will have to show the proof for their inability to gain admission based on this quota.

WBJEE 2018 Counseling Schedule

There will be three rounds of counseling conducted. After the first round, candidates will get a confirmation of their seats and this will be put up on the official website. If candidates are happy with their allotment, they are advised to accept the confirmation and pay the fees. Candidates who fail to accept their seat allotment will have their seat cancelled.

The second round of counseling will be conducted based on the availability of seats after the first round of counseling. A similar procedure needs to be followed to confirm the seats. Based on the availability of seats after the second round of counseling, students will be called for the third round of counseling.

After the payment of fees, there will be a verification process where the candidate will be asked to give the following documents:

  • Receipt of fee payment
  • WBJEE Admit Card
  • WBJEE Score Card
