What is PESSAT?

Peoples Education Society Scholastic Aptitude Test (PESSAT) is an all India online entrance exam conducted by PES University every year in the month of May. The exam acts a gateway for admission of candidates into various programmes offered by the university. The test is conducted in over 42 cities of the country.

Structure of PESSAT exam

PESSAT is a computer-based/online test which is conducted once every year. The duration and types of question in the test differs according to the subjects and type of course.

The structure and pattern of PESSAT for B.Tech

The duration of the test is 180 minutes or 3 hours. The format of the questions in the test is objective type. There are 180 questions in total where the candidate needs to attend one question in a time limit of one minute. The syllabus of PESSAT for B.Tech usually covers questions of physics, chemistry, mathematics from class 11th and 12th.  The paper contains 2 sections. Section-1 contains questions of mathematics, physics, and chemistry and Section-2 contains 20 question related to English grammar. There is no negative marking in PESSAT.

The duration of the test is 120 minutes or 2 hours. BBA/BBA HEM contains 150 questions and BBA-LLB contains 110 questions. BBA/BBA HEM covers 3 subjects/ topics and BBA-LLB covers 4 subjects/ topics.

The duration of the test is 120 minutes or 2 hours. The format of the question in the test is objective type. Total there are 120 questions. There is no negative marking in PESSAT. The test covers 4 subject or topic.

The structure and pattern of PESSAT for B.Design

This is the only test of PESSAT which uses paper and pen as the mode of conducting the test. It’s also known as DAT, Design Aptitude Test. The duration of the test is 120 minutes. It covers over 10 subjects or topics.

PESSAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must qualify class 12th or any equivalent course with minimum 60% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
  • Candidates other than CBSE, ICSE, State, IB and IGCSE boards have to take permission before applying for admission to the University for B.Tech programmes.
  • There is no specific age criterion by the university.
  • A candidate can give the PESSAT aptitude test only once.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION AND FILLING THE APPLICATION FORM:

  • STEP-1 REGISTRATION

Candidates have to register themselves by selecting the course they want to apply, entering the name, e-mail, date of birth and submitting.

  • STEP-2 FILLING OF PERSONAL DETAILS

After registration, the candidate has to fill details about them which contains their religion, caste, mother tongue, place of birth, address, parent’s details, education qualifications, the center of examination etc and select the declaration and submit.

  • STEP-3 UPLOAD PHOTOS AND DOCUMENTS

After providing all the details the candidate has to upload photos of them and their signature and required educational documents.

  • STEP-4 PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEES

After uploading the documents candidate has to pay the application fees. Payment can be done either offline or online through net banking, credit/debit card or demand draft and e-challan.

  • STEP-5 TAKING APPLICATION PRINTOUT

After confirming and submitting the article candidate must take few printouts of the application for future reference.

The application fee for the test is INR 1050/- which the candidates can either pay online or offline.

Online the payment can be done by credit/debit cards or net banking. Offline payment can be done by Challan or Demand draft.

If the candidate is paying through challan they must print both application form and e-challan, pay at the bank and submit the hardcopy of the stamped challan. If the candidate is paying through demand draft they must pay it in favour of “PES University General Fund” payable at Bangalore.

Admit Card

Admit card is said to be issued by 21st April 2018. It can be accessed from the official site of PESSAT. Admit card will be issued to the ones who have booked slots before the test. The admit card can be downloaded by entering the candidate’s online registration number and date of birth. Admit card is very important during the day of the examination.

Details included in the admit card are as follows:

  • Full name of the candidate
  • Scanned photograph and signature of the candidate
  • Address, Date and Time of the examination
  • Guidelines for the examination

Admission Procedure

Once the test is done candidates can check their result/rank card from the official site by entering their registration number and date of birth. The candidate must take a printout of the rank card and present it at time of counselling.

Admission is merely done on basis of the rank secured by the candidate in the test.

The scholarship will be provided to the candidate after they enter the university and prove their merit in an academic year.

Notification

The notification for the examination is published in the month of October/November every year. The notification for PESSAT 2018 is already out and candidates can view the same by visiting the official website.

Successful candidates of PESSAT 2018 can seek admission into various courses offered by PES University.

Cut-Off

Students can have an idea of the cut-off of PESSAT 2018 by having a look at the previous year cut-off.This will be the third edition of PESSAT and previous year trends show that those candidates who will secure rank within 1000 stand a good chance of getting admission in an engineering course. PESSAT Results

The results of PESSAT will be declared around the last week of May 2018. Candidates will be able to check their results and download their scorecard from the official website. After the conduction of the examination, candidates are expected to regularly visit the official website for updates regarding declaration of results.

Score Validity

The validity of the examination score stands for the particular academic year only. Hence, the validity of PESSAT score will be for the academic year 2018-19 only.

Reservation/Seat Distribution

The admission to the PES University and its affiliated institutes will be purely on merit. It will be based on the score of a candidate in PESSAT. Only those candidates will be called for counselling process whose score will come to a minimum acceptable level i.e. those who will score more or equal to the cut-off marks.

PESSAT 2018 Counselling Schedule

After the successful conduction of PESSAT, the results will be declared. It is expected to be rolled out in the last week of May 2018.

Those candidates who will be scoring above the cut off mark will be shortlisted for counselling according to the order of merit. Based on the merit list, candidates will be issued counselling letter for attending the counselling process. Allotment list will be released on the official website after every round of counselling process. Candidates can check their status for admission from this list.

Candidates attending the counselling process have to ensure that they are in possession of all the required documents like:

  • 10th class mark sheet and passing certificate
  • 12th class mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Hall Ticket
  • Score Card
  • Counselling Letter

Hall ticket, Score Card, Counselling Letter must be preserved until the final process of counselling and seat allotment is over.

The sample papers and previous year question papers are available online. Candidates are advised to attempt the paper. This will help them to get accustomed to the level of the questions asked in the examination.
