What is OUCET?

 OUCET Exam also known as the Osmania University Common Entrance Test is a University level entrance exam conducted by the Osmania University. Established in 1918, The University prides itself in being the seventh oldest University in the country and it is named after the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Osman Ali Khan.

It is an entrance exam conducted for Post Graduate courses, Post Graduate Diploma courses and 5 year integrated programmes. The universities where candidates can seek admission after taking this exam are Osmania University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Palmuru University. ] The dates for OUCET 2018 are yet to be declared.

OUCET 2018 exam took place from 11th June 2018.

Structure of OUCET exam

It is important to note that the mode of the examination is offline and while the general pattern for all the courses remains same (Masters in Physical Education i.e. M.P.Ed being the exception), the sections in the question paper varies depending on the course one is seeking admission for.

Duration: As it has already been mentioned, the duration of the test is 90 minutes.

Sections: The entrance exam for MBA consists of two parts, part-I part-II with each of the parts having 2 further sections.

Section-A of Part I consists of 25 questions dealing with verbal ability. Section-B of part I consists of 15 questions dealing with General knowledge. The first section of the second part i.e. part C consists of 30 questions dealing with numerical and data analysis and last section also consists of 30 questions and includes questions on reasoning and intelligence.

Exam pattern for MA

The question paper contains 5 sections. Section A contains forty questions dealing with mathematics, section B has 15 questions related to General English, section C ,D and E – all have 15 questions each dealing with General Knowledge, Current Affairs and General economics respectively.

Exam pattern for M.Sc

There are 3 sections. Section A contains 34 questions dealing with Chemistry, Section B has 33 questions which include questions on Physics and the last section deals with Mathematics and it also has 33 questions.

Exam pattern for Masters in Physical Education (M.P.Ed)

The entrance will have 75 questions, multiple choice, each question carrying one mark. The remaining 25 marks will be awarded by the Department of Physical Education, Osmania University for the Sports achievement of the candidates.

All the questions for the entrance exam are multiple choice and one mark is awarded for each correct answer and there is no negative marking. So the maximum marks for all the Entrance exam is 100. And the medium of giving the examination is English.

OUCET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

For Arts and social sciences

Candidates should have passed in the qualifying examination with not less than 40%marks in the aggregate of part II (or part I) for languages. Candidates passing the examination compartmentally and securing required percentage in the marks are also eligible.

  • However, for SC/ST candidates, a pass in the qualifying exam is sufficient

For science courses

Candidates should have passed B.A, B.Sc. or the equivalent exam with not less than 40%marks in the aggregate of part II.Candidates passing the examination compartmentally and securing required percentage in the marks are also eligible.

  • Candidates passing the examination compartmentally and securing required percentage in the marks are also eligible

For commerce courses

Graduation in commerce with 40% marks in part II is essential.

  • A pass certificate is enough for SC and ST candidates
  • There is no age restriction for applying

Application forms and submission procedure

 

The starting date for OUCET 2018 registration and fee payment will start from 1st week of April 2018. The deadline for the registration is 2nd week of May and if it exceeds to 3rd week of May, a late fee of INR 500 will be included.

For general category, the application fee for one subject is INR 400 while for SC/ST/PH it is INR 350 and for both the categories the fee for any additional subject is INR 250.

The registration fee for OUCET 2018 can be paid at any TS/AP Online centres or by using credit/debit/ net banking.

It must be remembered that the entire application process is online.

Documents that will be required during the application process are

  • Recent scanned passport size photo
  • Scanned copy of the signature of the candidate
  • Copy of caste certificate( if applicable)
  • Copy of Physically Challenged Certificate (if applicable)

The following are the steps to fill the application form:

STEP-1: Registration

A new webpage will appear, there click on the “New Registration for OUCET 2018” link. It will redirect you to the registration form.

Fill in the basic details like candidate name, DOB, email address, phone number etc

STEP-2: Payment of fee

After the payment, the candidate will receive his/her registration id via SMS or mail. That registration number is to be carefully noted down

STEP-3: Fill the application form

After that, the form will appear and then it has to be filled giving the right details

STEP-4: Upload signature and photo

Once all the information is uploaded, click on the save option

Detail must be checked before clicking the final submission link. Once submitted, the form can no more be edited.

A copy of the form must be printed and kept for future use.

Admit Card

Students can download the admit card from the official website around 3rd week of May.

The students can download it from the official site using their registration number and date of birth. The admit card is to be printed so, that it can be produced at the venue of the examination.
The admit card will contain details like

  • Name of the candidate
  • Date and venue of examination
  • Exam centre
  • Admit card number
  • Name of the parents and instructions to the candidate.

The admit card must be kept very carefully and any kind of tampering, duplication or plagiarism of the admit card will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate.

Along with the admit card the student must carry a photo identification proof with himself/herself to the examination centre

Admission Procedure

Results will be announced on 15th June 2018 and the counselling process will start from 9th July.

The results can again be accessed from the official site upon entering the hall ticket. i.e admit card number and the date of birth of the candidate. The scorecard must be printed and kept for further use.

After the declaration of the results, the process of counselling and start and the admission of the candidate into a particular college depend on the mark s/he has scored in the entrance examination. It also depends on the recognition of the college by the statutory bodies and the option of the college exercised in counselling.

However, it must be remembered that 85% of the seats are reserved for local candidates while the rest 15% are left for the other candidates. The cutoff percentage for qualifying OUCET 2018 is 25%. However, candidates belonging from SCs and STs have no qualifying cut off.

 Notification

The notification for the OUCET 2018 is to be released on 21 April 2018.

OUCET Result

OUCET 2018 Result will be announced by the 3rd week of May, 2018 via online mode.

Candidates will be able to receive their results by entering the hall ticket number.  The candidate’s name, marks, roll number, rank, exam center and other information will be displayed in the result.

Candidates are requested to take a printout of the result for further reference.

Cut-Off

The following is the minimum cut off criteria of the OUCET 2018 for taking admission in Osmania University:

  • Minimum cut off mark in OUCET 2018 is 25%.
  • Candidate must score at least 25 marks out of total 100 marks in OUCET 2018.
  • Candidate belonging to SC / ST have no qualifying percentage marks for OUCET 2018.

Score Validity

The validity of the examination score stands for the particular academic year only. Hence, the validity of OUCET 2018 score will be for the academic year 2018-19 only.

Every candidate will get only one chance to write OUCET for a particular academic year. Request for multiple attempts in any scenario will not be entertained by the exam conducting body.

Reservation/Seat Distribution

The following is the OUCET Seat Allotment Reservation for the various candidates:

  • 85% seats in seat matrix is reserved for the local candidates in the subject to other reservations and community in force.
  • Remaining seats of 15% are available to local and not local aspirants.

OUCET 2018 Counselling Schedule

OUCET 2018 Counselling will begin in first week of June 2018.

The counselling and seat allotment is a completely online process. So candidates must register online once the counselling notification is updated on the official website. Then only candidate will be called for certificate verification and exercising the web options.

After seat allotment, candidates can download the seat allotment order and report to the allotted college.
