What is CMC Vellore?
Founded in the year 1900, Christian Medical College, Vellore is one of the top five medical colleges in the country. The entrance exam conducted by this university gives candidates an opportunity to secure an admission into a number of medical courses offered at this university.
The exam can only be taken through an online mode i.e. computer-based exam. The courses are divided into three groups namely group A, group B, and PG Diploma courses. The following are the courses that come under these categories:

Pattern of CMC Vellore 2018
The pattern of the exam differs from course to course. The pattern for UG courses is as follows:

The general ability is divided into two sections – the first section needs to be answered in 50 minutes and the second section needs to be answered within 20 minutes. The Physics, Chemistry and Biology sections need to be answered within 120 minutes and hence the exam is 3 hours and 15 minutes long. Candidates need to keep an eye on the timer as each section has a time limit and candidates have to finish each section in the allotted time.

The exam is a multiple choice question exam with questions asked from physics, chemistry, biology, and aptitude. The exam can only be taken in English. There is no negative marking and hence candidates will not lose marks for wrong answers. The syllabus for the exam is usually the 12th grade portions.
Candidates who do well in the above-mentioned exam will be shortlisted for step-2. This step consists of a series of tests that determine the character, knowledge, and presence of mind of the candidate. Interviews will be conducted to assess a candidate’s skills. Based on these results, candidates are given admission into the college.
CMC Vellore 2018 Eligibility Criteria
The CMC Vellore eligibility criteria differ from course to course:

NOTE- All non-Indian residents have to obtain a ‘No objection certificate’ from the Government of India.
CMC Vellore 2018 Application form and submission procedure
Below mentioned is the application process of CMC Vellore 2018:
- The application process usually starts in the second week of March when the application forms are released. Go to their official site and click on the “Apply Now” button.
- In doing so, the candidate will be directed to the application form. Fill in the details like name, gender, date of birth etc. Additionally, the candidate will also be asked their preference of course, i.e. the course that the candidate wants to apply for.
- Next, the candidate will have to select the city where he/she will take the exam.
- Next, the candidate will be asked to upload a few documents. The documents necessary are as follows:
- Scanned copy of a passport size photograph ( The image of the photograph should not be more than 80KB in size)
- Scanned copy of the signature (The size limit for the signature is 50KB. )
Care needs to be taken while uploading the documents. Once the candidate finishes uploading the documents, he/she will be directed to pay the exam fee. Every candidate has to pay an administrative fee of Rs. 600. People applying for MBBS need to pay an additional Rs. 500. This payment can be made using a debit card or credit card or net banking, whichever is convenient for the candidate. There is also an option of paying through an e – challan at ICICI bank. Once the candidate makes the payment, they need to submit the form.
CMC Vellore 2018 Admit Card
Usually, admit card is issued 15 days prior to the examination.
Candidates have to download their respective admit cards from the official website by furnishing their login ID and password.
The admit card contains the following details:
- Name of the candidate
- Gender
- Age
- Date of Birth
- Venue for the exam
- Date of the exam
- Timings of the exam
The admit card is of utmost importance and it is a must that the candidates download the admit card and carry it to the exam. Without a valid admit card, the candidate will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.
If the applicant is unable to download the admit card, then he/she should immediately contact the college. Specifically, they have to send an email to registrar@cmcvellore.ac.in with their name, gender, date of birth, registration number and test venue.
CMC Vellore 2018 Admission Procedure
One of the important parameters that decide the selection of the candidate is the cut off marks. This mark is set by the college and a candidate needs to score more than the cut off mark to qualify for further rounds. Hence, it is advised that the candidates have a look at the cut off marks as this keeps changing every year.
Once the results of step-2 are declared, the candidates are called for a counseling session. The results are declared on the official website of the college. A rank list is prepared based on the performance of the candidate in both the exams and based on the list the candidates are called for counseling. This is where the candidates register themselves in their respective courses based on the availability.
Once they make a choice, they have to pay the fees to secure an admission to this university. Additionally, candidates are given the fee structure for all the years, the syllabus followed by the university and other relevant details during registration. Once a candidate is done with the registration, he/she is ready to attend classes. Classes will begin by the 4th week of July 2018.

CMC Vellore 2018 Syllabus
CMC Vellore covers four subjects that are physics, chemistry, biology, general ability (speed and accuracy). The level of difficulty is that of Class 11th and 12th boards recognized by the TN Dr MGR Medical University.

CMC Vellore score or rank secured by the student in the entrance examination is valid for the entire duration of one academic year or until the next CMC Vellore entrance test is held.
CMC Vellore 2018 Reservation & Seat distribution
CMC Vellore has a very limited number of seats. There are no reservation criteria in CMC Vellore the seats are given on basis of merit. Only 50% of seats are reserved for the candidates who are sponsored, they are also selected in an open competition which is set by the processes of the institute.
In the selection method, the candidate is interviewed following with an MCQ examination. Also, they give special consideration for a best outgoing student.
There is no category based seat distribution in CMC Vellore. Seats are distributed equally among the girls and the boys.
