What is JEECUP?

JEECUP is a state level examination for the candidate seeking admission in the Government or Private polytechnic colleges in UP. JEECUP stands for Joint Entrance Examination Council of UP (Sayukt Pravesh Pariksha Parishad, UP). It is also popularly known as UPJEE. Every year it has been conducted by Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education(UPBTE).

Structure of JEECUP exam

JEECUP examination pattern is designed to test the basic knowledge of candidates in the elective subjects. It is conducted for various groups (Group A to Group K8). There is one paper for each group of JEECUP. There are different question papers for different examinations for which syllabus also differs.

It is a paper-pencil base examination. Total 100 questions are there. Each question carries 4 marks.

Duration of the examination: Total 3 hours Examination.

Mode of Language: All questions are printed in English as well as Hindi.

Type of Question: It is already abovementioned that total 100 questions are there. All questions are MCQ (Multiple Choice Question)

Marking system: A candidate can get 4 nos. for each correct answer. Like most of the other entrance tests, the negative marking system is also there. For each incorrect answer, 1 mark is deducted.

This examination has been conducted in 2 different shifts. Moreover, it is a “ONE PAPER” examination.

As already mentioned, the exam is conducted for various groups (Group A to Group K7). Group A has 3 sections Group B to Group K7, each group has the different number of sections as per the course. So, to understand JEECUP examination pattern more clearly, we have furnished some information regarding subjects and groups of the examination in a tabular format.

JEECUP syllabus is based on UP secondary Board syllabus (up to Grade10) and Higher Senior secondary and Senior Secondary syllabus (From11th grade to 12th Grade). So, to get success in this examination it is important to follow the textbooks approved by the U.P govt.

JEECUP 2018 Eligibility Criteria

There are some eligibility criteria for appearing this examination.

Nationality and Domicile

  • The aspirant should be an Indian citizen
  • Those candidates who have the domicile of UP are eligible to apply. The candidate who complete their 10th or 12th from the schools in UP also eligible for this test.

Age Limit

  • No upper age limit is there but minimum age should be 14 years as on 1st July 2018

Academic Qualification

  • The minimum qualification for applying this examination is 10th passed. If He/she passed 12th or appearing in intermediate (the result is awaited) they can also apply it.
  • The candidate should get minimum 35% in the qualifying examination from the recognized board.
  • For Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, the candidate should pass 10+2 with science and should get 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Math’s

Application forms and submission procedure

The aspirant can fill up the application form online from 21st December 2017. The application form is only available in online mode. The last date to fill up the form is 28th February 2018. Aadhaar Card is compulsory to fill up the online form.

There are simple 4 steps to fill up the online application form. Steps are

  1. Fill the Registration form
  2. Fill the application form
  3. Upload images
  4. Pay the exam Fee

Step-1: Fill the Registration

  • Visit the official website.
  • After that, you need to select the Group for which you want to appear the JEECUP examination. Next, the applicant needs to provide certain details like Name, Father’s name, Mother’s name, Date of birth, Gender, Aadhar number, Mobile number, Etc.
  • Next, the applicant needs to provide his/her contact details and create a password. After filling up all the details, the applicant needs to click on Submit button.
  • At last, the applicant will get their login details like Application Number and Password after successfully submitting their registration form.

Step-2: Fill the application form

In these 2nd steps, the applicant needs to fill the following details on the online application form.

  • Personal Details: like Place of Residence, Nationality
  • Entrance examination and Educational Qualification Details: Here candidate needs to choose his/her preferred examination centre. Apart from that, in this section, the applicant needs to fill his/her educational qualification details.

After that, the applicant needs to click on Submit button. Here it is very important to remember that after final submission the applicant cannot change any data. Therefore. Before final submission, the applicant needs to check the all data properly.

Step-3: Upload Images

After filling in the details in the application form the applicant need to upload the scanned images of her coloured photograph, signature and Thumb impression (left-hand thumb impression). In the specific format as per the following dimensions.

Step-4: Pay the exam Fee

After uploading the images the applicant needs to complete the last step. The candidate has to pay prescribed amount of the application form. They can pay either online or offline.

The application fee is 300/ for General and OBC candidates while for SC/ST candidates it is 200/ only. The candidate can pay this amount through online mode i.e. through Net Banking/ Credit Card /Debit Card or by challan from any branches of State Bank of India.

After completing all above mentioned 4 steps the applicant needs to take a print out /download the confirmation page which will be generated after the successful payment.

Admit Card

JEECUP Admit Card is issued by the Joint Entrance Examination Council, UP. The applicants for JEECUP 2018 examination will get their Admit Card through online mode only. The Admit Card for JEECUP 2018 will be available from the 2nd week of the April. To download their Admit Card the applicants need to visit the official website

To get their Admit card they need to enter some details like application Number, Password. after that Admit Card will be generated. The applicants need to download the admit card and take a print out of it. In the examination hall, the candidate needs to carry the hard copy of Admit Card.

The following details should be mentioned on the Admit Card.

  • Name of the Candidate
  • Roll Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Examination date and Time
  • Venue
  • Candidate’s photograph and signature

Apart from the Admit card the candidate should carry a valid ID (Voter ID card, Aadhar Card, PAN card, etc. in examination hall.

The JEECUP 2018 is going to be held on 22nd April 2018 1st half in the morning time i.e. 9am-12pm (Group A) And 2nd half in the afternoon, time 2.30-5.30 (Group B-K7).

Admission Procedure

After the JEECUP examination is over counselling process will start. The aspirant can appear in the counselling process as per their performance in the examination. The counselling process will also be in the online mode.

During the counselling process, the candidates need to fill their preference of colleges and courses. After qualifying for the JEECUP examination the aspirant can take admission either in Govt. colleges or in the private colleges in UP.

JEECUP Result

The results for the exam will be displayed via online. Candidates are advised to use their roll number to check the result. The answer key will be published in the span of one week after the examination.  The results will also indicate the status of the candidate to appear for the counseling process.

The result shows the total marks obtained in the JEECUP 2018 and as well as the status of those who are eligible for the UPJEE counselling 2018.

Cut-Off

The cut off list will be available once the results have been declared. The JEECUP 2018 cut off will be declared for all the courses. This is based on the marks secured by the candidate in the JEECUP 2018 exam.

The counselling will be conducted once the cut off list and the merit lists have been published.

Score Validity

The validity of the JEECUP examination score stands for the particular academic year only. Hence, the validity of JEECUP 2018 score will be for the academic year 2018-19 only.

Every candidate will get only one chance to write an exam for a particular academic year. Request for multiple attempts in any scenario will not be entertained by the exam conducting body.

Reservation/Seat Distribution

The JEECUP 2018 has placed an 85% seat reservation for students residing in UP. The remaining 15% of the seats are reserved for management.

The JEECUP 2018 has kept a reserved the following percentage of seats for the given categories:

  • 27% for OBC-NCL
  • 2% for ST
  • 21% for SC
  • 3% for PwD candidates

Additionally, 20% reservation is for Girls, 2% for Freedom Fighters and 5% for reservation for candidates who are entitled under ward of Military Personnel candidates.

The counseling for JEECUP 2018 is done by registering and filling the necessary choices online. There are four rounds of counseling conducted in the given order:

  1. Online Registration and Choice filling
  2. Choice locking
  3. Seat Allotment and Acceptance of Fee
  4. Reporting at Allotted Institute

Applicants should register once they have been listed in the merit list. Choice filing will open for applicants on submission. Here, applicants are required to select their choice of subject and Institute/College.

Locking choice is mandatory for all the applicants. Seat allotment result will be declared and the selected applicants can the process fee and reserve the seat. The last step of the counselling process is reporting at the Allotted Institute.

The following documents are necessary while applying for the counseling:

  • Class X Mark sheet and Passing certificate
  • Class XII Mark sheet & Passing certificate
  • JEECUP 2018 Hall Ticket & Rank Card/Score Card
  • 2 Passport size photographs
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Category Certificate
